WOLJEONGSA/SANGWONSA/FOREST OF FIR TREE

Woljeongsa was founded by Master Jajang who thought this place as a shrine of Manjusri in 645 during the reign of Queen Seondeock, the Silla Dynasty. Woljeongsa displays the essence of Buddhism Culture as it is. Surrounding Woljeongsa is the famous Forest of more than 500-year-old fir trees. By walking Forest of fir tree, you can feel the unique beauty of Woljeongsa. In the precincts of the temple, there is a museum where you can see the essence of Odaesan Mountain and Buddhism Culture of Korea Dynasty. Sangwonsa has controlled Buddism during Silla Dynasty and is now a branch temple of Woljeongsa.
